Excel Allow Users to Edit Ranges using VBA. Ask Question Asked 2 years, 5 months ago. Active 2 years, 5 months ago. Viewed 745 times 0. Is it possible to specify the users who may edit a range without a password using vba? I was thinking about having a Permissions sheet with a list of the usernames in column A and the ranges in row 1. In this article, we will learn how to share and allow users to edit changes in Microsoft Excel 2010. Microsoft Excel allows multiple users to modify the data in a worksheet simultaneously. You can create a shared workbook & place it on a shared location where many people can make the changes of the contents of the file at the same time. You can use the Format Cells feature and the Protect Sheet feature to only allow changes to certain cells in Excel. Select the cells which you only allow to change in a worksheet, right click on the selected cells, and then click Format Cells from the right-clicking menu. See screenshot.

Allow Users to Edit Ranges??? The user is unable to selected the locked cell. It does not prompt the user for a p/w. Does it matter if the cells are locked and the worksheet protected? 'Dave Peterson' wrote: Once you protect the worksheet and allow ranges to be changed, anyone who tries to change one of those ranges will be prompted for a password. There's nothing you have to do special. Excel will do it for you. MarcusA wrote: I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. I have a workbook with two worksheets. On the first worksheet, I have standard p/w protection with several unlocked cells. What I would like to do is grant specific users access to additional cells within the worksheet. I list my ranges, add users to the permissions list and select a password. How does the user unlock this area of the worksheet using the p/w? Secondly, trying the same process and not using a p/w does not work either. Thanks -- Dave Peterson |
